The production of final orthoimagery through photogrammetric processing provides measurable images which can be analyzed in GIS environment. The most important tasks that may be performed include,

  • Surface analysis of seabed’s DEM
  • Time series analysis of different DEMs of the same area
  • Photo-interpretation and digitization of features
  • Object based image analysis
  • Radiometric analysis.

These processes allow production of thematic and classification maps regarding shallow seabed, assist identification and evolution of bedforms and support to locate loss or accumulation of sediments. The output results are of high importance in Environmental Impact Assessments, coastal engineering projects and especially in coastal conservation projects.

Example of thematic map showing seabed and adjacent coast geomorphology resulted from photo-interpretation of aerial imagery.
